Remote Virtual Care LPN

Support patients through video visits, secure messaging, and virtual care programs — reinforcing care plans and coordinating with virtual clinicians from home.

$25–$38 / hour 100% Remote Full-Time / Part-Time Multiple U.S. States

Job Overview

Virelia Health connects healthcare professionals with opportunities across virtual care, telehealth, and digital health delivery.

We are seeking qualified LVNs/LPNs for remote virtual care opportunities supporting health systems, virtual-first clinics, and digital health programs.

A Remote Virtual Care LPN works alongside virtual clinicians to deliver care through video visits, secure messaging, and patient portals. Rather than performing triage on incoming calls, this role focuses on ongoing virtual care delivery — preparing patients for virtual visits, reinforcing care plans after provider encounters, delivering approved patient education, and coordinating next steps.

This position is well-suited to an LVN who enjoys patient education, virtual care delivery, and supporting care plans through digital channels rather than urgent clinical decision-making.

The specific virtual care program, patient population, technology stack, and scope of responsibilities will depend on the employer and assignment.

This opportunity may be suitable for professionals searching for remote virtual care LPN jobs, remote virtual care nurse, work-from-home virtual care LVN, remote digital care nurse, or virtual nursing jobs roles.

Virtual Visit Scheduling Across Your Day

Virtual care programs operate on scheduled video visit slots and digital check-in windows, which means your day is structured around predictable patient appointments rather than unpredictable call volume. Many programs offer flexible blocks — 6, 8, or 10 hours — and some teams work 4-day weeks or split shifts. Evening coverage is common for patients who need after-work visits. We offer both full-time and part-time positions. Discuss your ideal schedule during your interview.

What You'll Do

As a Remote Virtual Care LPN, you may support the virtual care delivery process for patients across scheduled and on-demand programs.

  • Prepare patients for upcoming virtual visits — confirming technology, addressing access questions, and reviewing the reason for visit.
  • Attend or follow up on video visits alongside virtual clinicians when required by the program.
  • Reinforce care plans, instructions, and follow-up requirements after provider encounters.
  • Deliver approved patient education on chronic conditions, medications, and self-management.
  • Coordinate next steps — referrals, labs, imaging, follow-up appointments — with internal teams and external providers.
  • Answer patient questions through secure messaging and patient portals within the LPN/LVN scope.
  • Document each virtual encounter accurately in the EHR or virtual care platform.
  • Coordinate with providers, care managers, pharmacists, and community resources as needed.
  • Escalate clinical concerns, new symptoms, or care-plan changes to an RN or provider.
  • Support preventive care scheduling and annual wellness activities within virtual care programs.
  • Participate in virtual care quality improvement and patient experience initiatives.
  • Protect patient privacy and follow HIPAA requirements across all digital touchpoints.

Virtual Care Focus

Virtual care is a growing model of healthcare delivery in which patients receive care through video, chat, and digital tools — either as a primary touchpoint or as a supplement to in-person visits. Virtual care LPNs are the connective tissue that keeps patients engaged and informed between provider encounters.

Depending on the program, virtual care may involve:

Scheduled video visits
Secure messaging
Patient portal support
Chronic condition support
Medication adherence support
Care navigation

The LPN/LVN's role is to reinforce the plan established by the patient's providers and support self-management — not to independently diagnose, prescribe, or alter treatment. Clinical concerns are escalated to an RN or provider according to the employer's protocols.

This structure keeps the role focused on virtual patient education, care plan reinforcement, coordination, documentation, and appropriate escalation.

Patient Education & Virtual Support

Patient education is at the heart of virtual care delivery.

You may help patients:

  • Understand care instructions in plain language.
  • Prepare for upcoming virtual visits — including technology setup and questions to ask.
  • Understand medication instructions already provided by their provider.
  • Follow self-management plans for chronic conditions.
  • Complete recommended labs, screenings, and follow-up appointments.
  • Recognize warning signs that require contacting their provider.
  • Navigate the virtual care system and use digital tools confidently.

Clear communication and patient empathy are essential because virtual care depends on patient engagement — not just clinical delivery.

Virtual Care Workflow

A Remote Virtual Care LPN may follow a structured workflow across each virtual care encounter.

Depending on the employer's protocols, you may:

Review Schedule Prepare Patient Support Virtual Visit Reinforce Care Plan Coordinate Follow-Up Document Encounter Escalate If Needed

Virtual Care Does Not Replace Emergency Services

Virtual care is not a substitute for emergency medical evaluation. If a patient presents with emergency symptoms during any virtual interaction, the nurse follows the employer's emergency escalation process immediately.

Required Qualifications

  • Current LPN or LVN license applicable to the specific assignment.
  • Nursing education appropriate for LPN/LVN practice.
  • Clinical nursing experience with patient communication or virtual care exposure.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable using video platforms, EHR systems, and digital documentation tools.
  • Ability to reinforce care plans and approved patient education.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to recognize situations requiring clinical escalation.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling patient information.

A Typical Day

A typical day may begin by reviewing your virtual visit schedule for the day — checking patient names, visit reasons, and any pre-visit questions patients submitted through the portal.

Before each virtual encounter, you may reach out to patients to confirm their technology works, answer setup questions, and make sure they're ready for their provider.

After provider encounters, you may follow up with patients to reinforce care instructions, schedule follow-up appointments, coordinate referrals or labs, and answer routine questions through secure messaging.

Throughout the day, you'll document each virtual encounter in the EHR and escalate any clinical concern to the appropriate team member.

The role combines virtual patient care delivery, education, coordination, documentation, and appropriate escalation.

Unlike in-person care, virtual care delivery is scheduled, digital-first, and highly dependent on clear communication and patient engagement.

Remote Work Environment

This position is designed for remote virtual care delivery.

Depending on the employer, you may work with:

Video visit platforms
Electronic health records
